Dear Local 804 Members,

You may have heard something about President Eddie Villalta having a problem, so I am writing everyone to explain the facts thus far.

About two weeks ago, Eddie told some executive board members and business agents that he was being blackmailed by a member claiming he had a video of him with a woman who was not his wife. Eddie said it was personal and had nothing to do with Local 804. Eddie’s claim was not true.

The woman in the video was in fact a Local 804 employee who Eddie supervises. When confronted by the evidence, Eddie admitted who she was and that he took her to out of state union business trips. The union’s records suggest she accompanied Eddie on at least five union related business trips. On two trips Eddie arrived a day earlier than needed, causing the union to pay for expenses that it should not have paid for.

Unfortunately, Eddie also gave the employee a $10,000 raise without telling the executive board that he had a personal relationship with her. The entire executive board has asked Eddie to resign, but to date he refuses to do so.

Brother Tom Murphy has filed charges with Joint Council 16 against Eddie contending that he has misspent union money. As you know, any misappropriation of union funds must be dealt with. Brother Villalta should understand that it is in the best interest of the union and its members for the local to be able to move forward in negotiations united in order to get a good contract.

As developments occur, the membership will be kept up to date.

In Solidarity,
John Piccinich

Local 804 Secretary-Treasurer
