Striking Back in 2025

Let me start by wishing all Local 804 members a Happy New Year and thanking you for your vote of confidence in our local union election.

We are grateful for your support. But we are not satisfied. We are hungry and we will be ferocious in defending our rights and fighting for change.

That same ferocity will apply whether we are taking on UPS, Amazon, corporate politicians, or any employer.

Post-Peak Menace at UPS

At UPS, peak season is over.

Management was not your friend then and they are not now. The favors you did yesterday will be rewarded with harassment, discipline and firings today.

We all need to stick together on this. Responsibility falls on all of us. Follow the methods and procedures whether you work in package, inside or in the feeder department.

Carol Tomé and UPS are all about the money. They don’t give a damn about the Teamsters who produce their
billions.

Layoffs are coming. Fight back with grievances. Demand your daily guarantee. Get on the 9.5 list. File on supervisors working violations. Imagine what we can do if we all do our part.

If you are laid off, exercise your contractual rights under the layoff language to request work in another building.

This issue of 804 News has news you can use to enforce your rights, fight unfair discipline, and protect your job.

Work with your shop steward and business agent. Every day, our team is working hard to fight company stonewalling and to get grievances paid.

Taking on the Amazon Threat

Amazon organizing is critical. We need to grow our union and organize the nonunion competition.

Amazon delivery volume is exploding. Their sweatshop model is grossly unfair to their employees—and it is a threat to everything we have fought for and won as Teamsters, including our wages, benefits, and pensions.

Ignore this threat at your peril. When we say, Amazon workers’ fight is our fight. That is not a slogan. That is a fact.

Last year, nearly 10,000 Amazon workers joined the Teamsters. But the company refuses to recognize their union and bargain a contract. We want to raise Amazon workers up to our level. Amazon wants to drag us down to theirs.

Amazon Teamsters took nationally coordinated strike action at peak season to take on the company's union-busting and build Teamster organizing.

Local 804 led the way with the nation’s first picket line on December 19 at dawn. The fight continues. Join it. Get involved in our Amazon organizing program.

One union! One goal!
