Business agents are assigned to every building and every shift—and BAs are in the field every day.

When a business agent is unavailable because of other duties, another representative covers the assignment.

In the past, some BAs felt they only had to go to buildings to handle 72-hour hearings. That’s wrong and a disservice to our members.

The majority of members are not called in for disciplinary hearings, but they still benefit from having a union representative available to answer questions and offer advice.

Our increased presence on the shop floor also lets the company know that management is being held accountable.
