Feeder drivers and car washers at Queens North are celebrating a win.
Stewards and members worked together for months to document the violations.
Local 804 was able to show that carwashers were being used out of classification not just to make service on packages as needed, but as part of regular, planned operations by the company.
Now, these scheduled shuttle runs are going back to Feeder.
If there are scheduled shuttle runs from your building to another UPS building being performed by anyone but a feeder driver—document and grieve it! We need to protect feeder jobs.
“Instead of blaming each other, we’re going to stick together to make sure feeder drivers get work, and carwash jobs are protected,” says Carwasher Joe Graham.
“Carwash and porter jobs are important ‘reserve’ jobs for members who need work but are unable for health reasons to deliver packages.”
“It’s great to see the executive board checkmate the company on this issue. Congratulations to everyone involved in this big win. I’ve worked at UPS for 30 years and it was an honor to see how our union reps work for us. God bless you guys! Huge win!”
